Grammy je za muziku ono što je Met gala za modu. Ceremonija je zakazana za 31. januar 2022. godine, a dodjela Gremija počet će u 17:00 sati u Los Angelesu i trajat će tri i po sata. Međutim, crveni tepih će početi dva sata prije same ceremonije. Ovogodišnja ceremonija se vraća u zatvorenom prostoru u svom uobičajenom domu, Crypto.com Areni (ranije poznatoj kao Staples Center), koja ugošćuje do 20.000 gostiju. Prošle godine, umjesto poznatih voditelja, imali su emitovanje sa legendarnih muzičkih mjesta tokom proglašenja pobjednikea.
Emisija dodjele nagrade Grammy će se emitovati na CBS-u i Paramount+.
Trevor Noah iz Daily Showa vratit će se kao domaćin dodjele nagrada. Izvršni direktor Grammyja Harvey Mason Jr. rekao je: „Trevor je bio sjajan kao naš domaćin 63. dodjele Grammy nagrada uz pohvale muzičke zajednice, obožavatelja muzike i kritičara. Tako smo uzbuđeni što možemo poželeti dobrodošlicu Trevoru nazad na scenu Grammyja i sretni smo što je još jednom ugostio ono što vjerujemo da će biti nezaboravno veče.”
Svaka pjesma i spot koji su objavljeni u periodu između prvog septembra 2020. i 30. septembra 2021. godine ispunjavaju uslove za za dodjelu nagrade Grammy.
Postava izvođača tek treba da bude otkrivena, ali prošlogodišnji talenat su za pamćenje uključivali Bad Bunny, Cardi B, BTS, Doja Cat, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Megan Thee Stallion, Harry Styles i Taylor Swift.
Ove godine, čak i ako su radili samo na jednoj od pjesama, svaki tekstopisac, producent ili istaknuti umjetnik na ploči nominiranoj za album godine dobija nominaciju. Dok su ranije samo bili nominovani ako su radili na 33% ili više dužine ploče. Broj ploča nominovanih za glavne kategorije ploča godine, pjesma godine, album godine i najbolji novi izvođač porastao je sa osam na deset.
Ovogodišnja dodjela Grammyja se reklamira kao dodjela nagrada “Back To Normal”, tako da je bilo ograničene komunikacije oko protokola COVID-19. Nadamo se da Omicron neće baciti ključ na posao.
